DYNAMAX Consoles?

Looking at the MX8E (for the price) for a small AM, live shifts during the day and Sat fed at night.

Anyone have experiences good or bad with this console?

Thanks.

Well, it could be a great little board...the problem is that long lead times and poor quality control have become the norm for LPB (I should know...I sell them...or used to). Last few I've been involved with had problems out of the box. LPB was helpful in getting them right, but very slow to deliver parts. I think the board has a great feature set for the money, plus it's modular. If LPB could get their act together, they'd have a fine product perfect for smaller stations. For just slightly more money, I'd go for an 8-channel Audioarts R55E any day. For what you get, the few hundred dollar price difference is very negligble. Hope that helps.

I've looked at an older Dynamax, and it didn't look like that bad of a board.

However, I would agree with Chris on the R55E over the Dynamax if the price is close. Indeed, once the bank gets all their paperwork, we'll be sending a check to Chris's colleague Ed Young next week for a 12 ch/18 mainframe R55E.

Note that if space is tight, Wheatstone/Audioarts makes a compact version of the R55E--eight channel if I remember right.

Agreed. Wheatstone/AudioFarts are very good consoles that stand up well in harsh enviorments. You won't be disappointed.

But please, for your own mental health, buy their optional
wiring harness! Else you're gonna go blind crimping pins
for sub-miniature "D" connectors and getting the pins in the
right holes!

I'll second that. That's the one flaw with this board. I'm sure it's a space-saver and a cost-cutter, but it certainly adds some install time. The harnesses are not too expensive and well worth it.
