From Geneva, NY (Finger Lakes region), I, too was getting some E-skip from the upper midwest. Much of the activity was on the educational portion of the band. This was between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. Here is what I heard.
KCRB (88.5) Bemidji, MN (classical service of the statewide public radio network)
KFBN (88.7) Fargo, ND (religious)
WQRN (88.9) Cook, MN (religious)
KUND (89.3) Grand Forks, ND (Prairie Public Radio)
KCCM (91.1) Moorhead, MN (same as KCRB)
on 91.7: KLSE Rochester, MN (same as KCRB) fighting with KPPD, Devils Lake, ND (same as KUND)
This is the first time I can recall getting skip from the upper midwest. All of the skip I have received from NY has been from lower midwestern states like Kansas or Nebraska, deep southern states, and Florida.
A question for the more knowledgeable DXers on this board regarding the behavior of E-skip. Does the effect work both ways? In other words, when I was hearing stations from MN and ND, were DXers in those states getting stations from upstate NY? Please pardon my ignorance. While I love the DXing hobby, I will admit I don't know all there is to know about the various forms of DX. Another reason I ask is because I don't recall ever seeing any logs of E-skip from my area.
