E Skip! Finally!

The interesting thing about this is that it was not showing up on the DX Sherlock map.

I was scanning the FM band because it looked like a possible FM opening from here to somewhere in Michigan.

The few stations that came in were only strong for a few seconds and were gone most of the time until briefly taking over the frequency.

Here's my brief catch of 'Channel 96.3' from Wichita, Kansas at 1030 miles.

Congrats gar! This season has been so rotten that I've had ZERO IDs and one Es opening without an ID on 7/4. Just UNID classical and NPR stations 88-92, reaching 97.5 for three seconds

Thanks.

The only way I was able to ID this station, since I didn't get to hear any official station ID, was to Google 'Channel 96.3' and then go to their live audio stream.

At first, I didn't think it was them because they had a female dj and not the guy doing that remote broadcast from the Ross that I was hearing on my radio.

Finally in the audio stream, she went to the same guy doing that remote broadcast from the Ross and I then confirmed the catch!

You betcha....

Things were hot and heavy this morning here near Miami, which also included Wichita on 107.3, which is even an IBOC spot for me! I even checked the weather band, but nothing unusual there.

I got one DTV via Es, WTVF Nashville, for 2 seconds or so....However, during the Wichita time, I even got a partial bar on DT 2, which had to have been KNOP in Nebraska, trying, but that might be a pipe dream for me....it's well over 1400 miles.

Was getting a lotta Tulsa stuff, and Oklahoma is a no-man's-land area if you wanna try and catch DTV via Es. That being said, I got the PBS series Super Why on *both* analog 3 AND 4.....no idea who it was, and no logo bug. (Super Why isn't syndicated as E/I, is it?)

Wonder if someone in Mexico airs Super Why on weekends? That would make sense, maybe Net 5?

Super Why! may air on Televisa in Mexico but I can't find any concrete evidence of that.

Looking in the other direction, though, it airs during the Kids CBC programming block between 7am-noon eastern. Unfortunately it appears all CBC stations are digital now. Hmm.

Not the metropolitan CBCs, which signed off 8/31/11, but the smaller relayers, they will be on until the 31st. Get 'em while you can!

CBC does air Super Why during kids programming. Not sure how great your reception was but if they were using a semi transparent clear version of their logo it may have been hard to see.

I believe this only applies to CBC signals owned by CBC. Private affiliates like my semi-local CKWS are still staying on in analog as far as I know.

I looked again at my reception....I think I know the name of the episode now, based on Wikipedia & the dialogue I heard. It was in color in spots.

I seem to lean on it being K04DY in Tahlequah OK; but that sure does not explain the ch 3 reception (which would certainly make CBC more likely). Not that it was necessarily the same show in parallel.
