E-skip in April?! With new logs!? Yes! 4/28/15

First e-skip opening of the year just wrapped up about 10 minutes ago, and it was a good one - to western and southern Colorado, with 3 new logs. First EVER E-skip in April for me!

7:53PM - first signs of skip with 95.5 "Faithfully" Journey - which would later be IDed as relog KPHT Rocky Ford, CO. 100KW at 1042 miles.
8:02 - 93.5 KTND Aspen, CO; strong with "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" Elton John; and TOH ID "Thunder 93.5 KTND Aspen, Snowmass". NEW #400, 21KW, 864 miles.
8:06 - 95.5 KRVG Glenwood Springs, CO; mono audio with rock music; CBS News, and ID at 8:06 "KRVG Glenwood Springs, KRVG-FM1..." NEW #401, 1000W, 827 miles. A very nice low power log!
8:07 - 95.9 unid with classical music. From looking on radio-locator, the only suspect is 94W KWMV-LP Westcliffe, CO; at 967 miles. No ID, so can't confirm it. But that would break a 3 1/2 year record for lowest powered FM ever.
8:11 - 100.5 unid with CHR; likely KGHT CO but no ID. Mono audio (again, which is likely due to mountain blockage. But still, on CHR, wouldn't it be better in stereo?)
8:11 - 101.3 unid with dead air...Walsenberg CO maybe.
8:16 - 96.5 KBKZ Raton, NM; mentioned 100.9 translator, later IDed "96.5 and 100.9 Coyote Country." A relog, 5400W at 1066 miles.
8:17 - 97.1 KZBR Alamosa, CO; strong with "Your KZBR Evening Weather Forecast" mention. This station calls themselves the "Zebra"! NEW #402, 25KW at 983 miles.
8:25 - brief 93.9 fadeup w/ Proactiv commercial
8:26 - 95.1 ttKATC Colorado Springs, CO w/ country, not needed. Also some faint 95.3 fadeups (KYDN?)

KPHT was very strong for several minutes with songs such as "Rosanna" by Toto and "Small Town" by John Mellencamp. KTND was also in and out but by 8:40, everything was gone. Still, 3 new logs, and a milestone for me as I log Es for the first time ever in April.
There is NO tape unfortunately. I have no voice recorder still, as the last one died in November and I haven't gotten the next one yet. Likely in the new few days.

Grundig G5 with the telescopic whip. You don't need more than a 3' whip and a good radio that has little overload to pick up loads of e-skip when it opens up.
Getting an Olympus VN-721PC by next week. My old recorder died in November and now I have no capability to tape unattended DX. Which has been a godsend...I have logged a few new Es logs that way, as well as meteor scatter.
