E-Skip in Texas

Just picked up my first E-Skip station ever.
WHAK-FM 99.9 The Wave Classic Hits.
Was listening to my station at a friends house when The Wave blasted in with a Jackson 5 song ending and station id as "Super Hits Of Rock and Roll 99.9 The Wave"
Quickly faded back out, came back in a few mins later with a weather report before fading right back out.

Recieved In McKinney, TX

Thanks for the info! The DX Sherlock 6m map is showing lots of sporadic E activity including some multi-hop skips to South America. Will have to check FM band here and see if I hear any DX here in Ohio

Buckeyes, was the activity you saw high up enough in frequency for FM?

I was checking the DX Sherlock site a lot late this afternoon and although there were a lot of Es clouds over the eastern third of the country, none I saw anyway were above even 70 mhz.

I'm disappointed in this year's E Skip season so far.

WHAK- Rogers City, MI- In the north east part of the state. NOT BAD!

I missed this opening due to work, but hope to get in on several others this season.

Didn't affect FL as much as the midwest. Got to top of dial MI-WY and ON-SD.

I use this link for Es alerts [I am Seattle CN87 on the log]

Bust here. Only thing heard was very weak TV6 video around 2:30pm, likely XETV but never heard a peep out of FM even though a DXer in CN82 [Medford area] had skip to AZ up to 95.

I couldn't get that link to work but thanks for the suggestion.

The DX Sherlock map has been completely blank today so far which is very unusual for this time of the year.

I'm wondering if it's simple lack of Es or if the map just isn't showing them for some reason.

Right now, I'm using the old fashioned method of having my radio on tuned to an empty FM frequency

The MUF was at 72 MHz most of the time, but on one particular page refresh it did show the MUF at 86 MHz (for the single hops). The double hops to Colombia and Venezuela were in the 6-meter ham band.

Do double-hop E-skips always have a lower MUF than the single hops or can they have the same MUF?

Looks like right now, no activity on 50 MHz or above. F2 opening in and around the 10-meter ham band right now from just west of El Paso to central and eastern Europe.
