E-skip Interview

From Monday's big opening to the NE, I heard and recorded a couple of minutes of WYRS 90.7 Manahawkin, NJ, sent a reception report and a CD of the reception. Saturday afternoon, I get a call from the station asking if I would do an on-air interview- which I of course obliged. It seems the owner is an amateur radio operator as well as the station GM, engineer and on-air announcer. He said his station is active in amateur radio "Field Day" and we spoke for a couple of minutes on air talking about DX'ing, e-skip, equipment and such. He mentioned they only send 500 watts my way and he was going to play my recording on the air a little later. He also mentioned they transmit from the old AT&T ship-shore facilities there in Manahawkin. This was the first time I've ever had an opportunity for something like that- and it was just as exciting as hearing 'em!

Greg, you live in a lovely place! Some years ago, I had relatives in Holiday. I remember there was a very nice radio station at the high end of the dial that played adult standards. I think the call letters were WGUL. It seems to have moved to another city now. I've only heard FL twice here in IL. Once I heard WMIB (Marco Island) on AM and another time I heard an NPR station in Boca Raton during an Es opening on FM.
