E Skip season starting a little early

I decided to check the DX Sherlock site late this afternoon for the first time in a long time and it showed many Es clouds over the northeast and midwest above 110 mhz for a couple hours.

Wow! Right now, there's an Es cloud of 238 mhz over the Ohio West Virginia border area.

It's in the purple.

I've never seen it that high ever.

That was probably a false alarm due to aurora conditions. 6m is loaded on the East Coast right now with Aurora.

Use the TVFM Skip Log: http://dxworld.com/tvfmlog.html to find out if there is Es conditions. Right now, it's not.

Yes. That was an Aurora opening. I could explain why the MUF showed so high, but that's a bit esoteric.

But... there is some Es starting now. As is usual for April Es, it's a southern path. Mexico, Cuba, FL, etc., into the Midsouth.

It's right on time, actually. I suppose it's time to put the 6 meter radio in the car and stick the mag mount on...
