E.W. Scripps files Trademark for "Shop Scripps"

Was just looking at recent Trademark filing by TV station groups on the USPTO and saw this. E.W. Scripps filed an application for Trademark on March 23 for the name "Shop Scripps" with Goods and Services listed as "Promoting the goods and services of others; Advertising, marketing, and promoting the goods and services of others via sponsored television and video segments; Online retail store services featuring a wide variety of consumer goods."

My guess is considering Scripps Stations carry HSN/QVC networks and with financial issues HSN/QVC are having right now that could lead to their shut down, Scripps could be getting ready to start their own Shopping network to replace them.

Or they could be adding a shopping segment to all of their news shows, similar to what the network morning news shows are doing now.
This seems more plausible than “hey, those well-known names that went belly up because stand-alone TV shopping isn’t viable? Let’s spend money to build up a failing infrastructure and do that, too.”

Yeah, I think it will be during the news mornings, Noon newscast or 4PM newscast etc. As WOOD TV does it with Epic Deals on 8 West & Noon newscast as well. WWMT does it at 22 past the hour where the anchor makes a statement before the ad is rolled.
