Eagan and Braude loose an hour

WTTK announced Thursday that starting this Mondaythe NECN news simulcast will air from from 5a to 7a each weekday. Jim and Marjorie will air from 7a-10a.

I don't understand this. Is NECN buying the time? Is TV on the radio easier for TKK to sell than a live local talk program? I would assume that if NECN is not buying the tiem the ratings for the 5a-6a hour must be pretty good.

If I was interested in NECN I would just turn on my TV and I doubt I would listen to it in the car.

I was also stumped as to why this was done. I never listen to the simulcast - it's like listening to a TV on in the other room, just sort of distracting. I do like listening to J&M. I thought that John Henry barging into the radio studios yesterday reinforces the immediacy and the invitation to participate that is unique to radio. It may never have occurred to him to do that to a TV station, not that any TV broadcast would be on all afternoon. I think the simulcast of a TV show is totally contrary to that sense of nearness and immediacy.
