Eagle 98.1 re-positions as 'The Rock Station'

They dropped the classic rock moniker and playing tunes as recent as 2011 in all dayparts now but no currents yet. Looks like classic rock may go the way of Oldies and Smooth jazz in coming years.

How incredibly sad..... And incredibly stupid.... their music rotation was well mixed.... and pretty much a gimme as being one of the top stations..... I don't know who suckered management into the change..... but it is a very poor decision...Gonna bite them.....

Actually been seeing a lot of classic rockers move to become heritage rockers now that much of what is new classic rock from the 90s is the same style sound as played today on heritage rockers. Seen many on the east coast doing this as most people age out the classic rock demo but will agree that the playlist is way wider and better than most cookie cutter classic rockers like Bayou down in NOLA

Besides I got a feeling that it may be as I got a suspicion 103.3 may flip as they have gotten to lean way more rock playing say zztop "gimme all your loving" and others that would make it a great classic hits/classic rock station besides the parked callsign

I know rdj needs to fix the tower they will be sharing with 94.5 as still have issues hearing them, and I miss my hard rock station as "rock 92.3" don't know what it wants to be IMO

Sounds Classic Rock to me without the 60s / Early 70s...In the past hour I havent heard anything new..wait..theres the Beatles.... :)

Don't believe the hype.

WDGL is still a classic rock station.

They added a lot more from the 90s and early 2k but nothing newer so far than maybe 2005 when I tune in... I know when the killed 104 the x, they promised to add new rock then.. still hasn't happened.. basically edit the sweepers, add in some foo fighters and staind and now you are a rock station...

If they were, I'd say add the new Rush and the new rockers on the heritage rock list

I never understood why the powers that be would try to combine two rock formats, Classic Rock with new Active Rock. The Classic Rockers don't want to hear Foo Fighters and Sublime, while the Gen X-ers don't want to hear Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Doobie Bros.

Why this format keeps popping up I have no idea. BR tried it about ten years ago with Rock 93-7 and it failed miserably. Either keep it Classic or make it Active, but don't mix the two.

To radiogaga80,

Why are you stalking me? It is against TOS to stalk, taunt, or otherwise berate.

You have two posts, and they were both used to taunt me. Something doesn't add up here.

You have three posts, and they are all responses to my posts.

So, you mean to tell me you looked at my posts and those posts inspired you to become a member?

Or, are you a frequent poster, didn't want the reputation of being critical of others so you created a separate account?

I'll go with option #2.

I look forward to reading your future posts, or to see if you disappear into the night, much like classic/active rock stations across the US.
