Baton Rouge Eagle 98.1

I finally got to listen to them for the first time in forever. I must say they are sounding great. In the few hours I listened I heard 90s alternative I haven't heard in years from bands like Gravity Kills, Sponge, and Stone Roses. They also played several non single tracks and deep cuts from 80s hair bands I weren't familiar with. I guess they had to wait for the Drake to retire to really blow the doors off the station.
Is user "smashedCD" still around these boards? I'm curious what he thinks of the station these days.......

I agree they are sounding much better these days. Especially as a 45 year old, there’s very few stations playing “my music".

I also suggest giving Alt 92.3 a listen (forever WCKW to me 😂) . Since Ginty arrived there, the playlist is almost flawless. Especially their "big fuzz Fridays" where it’s nothing but 90s. I have a hard time finding a song in that playlist that I wouldn’t listen to. It's like 106.7 The End pre-Katrina returned. Such a shame the monster signal is gone and won't return. I think Ginty is building a winner, very musically similar to his buddy at KTBZ, but not enough people can hear it terrestrially and that will be a huge obstacle to success.

Alt 92.3 is only running 630 watts since the tower was destroyed. It doesn’t get out that far outside of New Orleans

I'm gonna let him know you looking for him, but lately he's more in the classic Christian format that is starting to make waves

But he got tired out real quick of Eagles Playlist as they play selected deep tracks like KZMZ does, but to him they are just playing the same songs.

Personally, this is one of the better classic rock stations I listen to, but I'm more heritage Rock, and love how Ginty flipped the Playlist at 92.3, waiting on them to go back to a full signal.

I'm actually waiting to see if 95.7 will add more newer rock considering their syndicated Rise Guy's show has played a lot of music closer to tail end of what Bayou considers "classic Rock".

Yep I am alive and well :) even have an online radio gig now. But enough about me.

Eagle is just ok to me. Even though there are * deep cuts* its always the same ones. Dont really like Michelle shes kind of annoying with all the talk about her kid and old man. Condon is still on thats a turn off. They do have some good shows. They have an 80s Metal show and a good mid day guy. But overall its just another classic rock station to me.

Personally I like 540 the Goat and the Arkansas Rocks Radio Network. Both have extremely deep play lists.

I hear 92.3 is putting up a new tower. It will at least reach B.R. again. Personally I think Eagle should drop the tired classic rock songs and go more mainstream rock. Or Active Rock especially since 1033 is now pretty much classic rock light.

WZRH is operating on a tower near LaPlace. License was approved in October. I see nothing on the FCC LMS that indicates they are building a new tower.

Actually KVDU moving to Baton Rouge on a smaller tower and power as the Vacherie site has had zero work on it other than I think they finally pulled the rest of the stick. Been a few weeks since I've passed the site, but 104.1 still operating from Temporary site in St. Benard last I looked.
Plan was to move city of license, run off 2000 foot stick and have both 103.7 and 104.1 cover new orleans, but latest I heard is 104.1 is to move and become WJBO -FM .
92.3 moved to a tower in Laplace as I don't see the Vacherie stick being rebuilt as you have two companies trying to get out of the vertical real estate business.

Yep. Rebuilding the Vacherie site didn't make sense, money wise. I went by the proposed KVDU site a few weeks ago and no sign of activity then. They have plenty of time on the CP and covering NOLA pretty well with the aux facility.

I believe they are already using a tower since I can catch 92.3 in Zachary sometimes. Usually very weak tho
WZRH 92.3 is on their newly licensed site. It doesn't cover BR. It covers NOLA and surrounding areas. The new site doesn't have the coverage the old site in Vacherie had.
