Eagle Vs. The BIG station,

I have been waiting to see this post but haven't yet, so I'll start it.

Seeing how country fans are so loyal, do you think Eagle is making an impact? For what it's worth, In the greater Burlington/Plattsburgh area I have noticed more businesses listening to Eagle, where in the past MP103 or Star even Triple X was on. I have also noticed WOKO trying a more "hip" presentation. Do you think the listener can tell that the Morning show and Night show on Eagle are from out of market? Does it matter? Daypart for daypart, song for song, what is the better station?

With the country format, in most cases, local talent wins over sydicated. WOKO would really have to screw up (or go syndicated themselves) to lose the heritage reputation that they have. Hall Communications is a CLASS act compared to other companies.

Song for song, the Eagle sucks. You can't say much about the music because country is country. Their jocks and presentation are all wrong...a bunch of yackers. But to be honest, I'm not sure "local" radio matters anymore. It's about the music and who plays more of it.

I think it's all about how long the Eagle can keep doing what it's doing. I never see it overtaking WOKO but over time it can pull more and more audience away as people share between the two. While WOKO will always be the dominant station in that format The Eagle should be able to get to a 5-7 share and take WOKO off it's perch a little. WOKO is a very consistent radio station. It's certainly not a great radio station but consistency can take you a long way. I think Eagle is making some inroads and is certainly a street fighter. WOKO doesn't need to look behind them yet but Eagle is nipping at their heels and taking small bites.
