Eagles - WMGM-FM

I heard WMGM-FM has signed with CBS Radio to be the exclusive carriers of the Philadelphia Eagles for the next 7 years.

One would hope so, pulling Eagles Fans from their regular format choices. I think the Birds have 5 Thurs and Sun night games this year, so it speads out the bump across days and dayparts.

Speaking as an Eagles fan broadcasting their games should be a nice bump up listener wise to WMGM. Impressive move on managements part.

no offense to other posters on here ..... as a non-sports guy , i guess i will be stuck on the margate beach listening to boom boxes in september blasting wmgm eagles stuff  , instead of music

If you need to put sports on a station with music...there's a real problem. Who cares about having sports on the FM dial? Either be all talk or all music, not both. It should be all music on WMGM, no sports.

The Eagles, and NFL in general, are too valuable to be thrown on a smaller signalled AM, talk, music or otherwise. Phillies are great to listen to on WMID and WCMC...music stations...but there's 162 games, plus preseason! Sixers and Flyers also play many games, are not as exciting on radio, and have proven themselves mediocre in listenership.

Eagles play only 20 games, including preseason. It has nothing to do with being on a music station, it has to do with the target audience, specifically men. It's a great enhancement for MGM to garner even more men to listen, and hopefully listen more during the week. It would not compliment say, WFPG, because it doesn't serve the station's target of women.

And because the NFL plays so few games, they prefer their franchises on big signals.

If another music station, specifically rock, like WZXL could get their hands on it, they too would drop music for 3 hours a week, for the ratings and revenue the NFL brings. Also, the games disturb little as they are usually played in what is normally off peak weekend afternoon and evenings.

I like listening to FM. AM is rough to listen to with the static and noise. I agree it will draw more men some of who don't even know where AM radio is.
