Earl-FM and the Titans

Since the Titans arrived in Tennessee, WOKI has been the Knoxville affiliate on the Tennessee Titan Radio Network. When I was in Knoxville several weeks ago, I noticed the games were being carried by WOKI on 98.7. This was a week or two before the River became Earl-FM. Since WOKI became Earl-FM, are they still the Titans Affiliate for Knoxville?

Yep, contractually bound to WOKI. May move to the Sports Animal next year, but more likely to either News-Talk100 or WIVK because Citadel corporate (who pays out the ass to be the flagship station in Nashville) wants the team on 100,000 watt signals so they can be heard in every inch of the state.

I hate to say this, but couldn't resist after the outcomes of the past few UT games. BUT, it might not be a bad idea for WIVK to carry the Titans games. If the Vols keep going down the road they have been lately, then the Titans games might end up bringing in more listeners and money. Well, atleast we've got Pat Summitt and her Lady Vols coming up soon to redeem UT's reputation. Intersting thought.....Pat Summitt coaching UT Football and replacing some of the players with Lady Vols. Very interesting radio and tv broadcasts would come from those changes.

I have to disagree with you this. Knoxville is a Tennessee Vols town, always has been, always will be. Even in a bad year, the Vols will bring big ratings. Plus, the Titans aren't doing any better than the Vols are right now, either. I don't think the Titans games will ever be on WIVK. Maybe, News-Talk 100, but not WIVK. The reason I asked the question in the first place is because when a station usually goes to a Jack/Earl type format, they usually drop every programming option that doesn't fit in to the all-music formats, such as public service forums, talk shows, weekend programming, etc.
