Stations are positoning the females front and center. Yes it is a visual medium, but it's actually funny at times. There isn't much subtlety involved.

You are switching stations just to find out who is wearing what, not to get the news. Or perhaps that's the intent?
 
I noticed wcvb sent lightweight Bianca over to london for the royal wedding perfect assignment for her credentials, also ch 4 and 7 announced first they were sending reporters to cover the royal wedding then wcvb followed.
