EAS Slides

I just saw WHDH doing their monthly test of the Emergency Alert System. It made me want to ask the following question? What were EAS slides like for other stations, especially in the past? Does anyone have stills or video clips of those slides? And just out of curiosity, was the EAS activated yesterday by Governor Romney to inform us that the mass transit alert level was raised to orange? By the way, the full cable system just completed the monthly EAS test, and I love them tests. Can't wait for the next one.

Could they do that for events that are not of dire danger to life (like hurricanes, tornadoes, Amber Alerts, etc.)?

Even if it interrupts your favorite program? Personally, I couldn't stand them.
