EAS Test: Pass/Fail ?

The Twitter world abuzz with EAS questions.

A NY radio station ran it late
A radio station in ATL missed the first 10 sec
A tv station in Albequerque, NM didn't run it at all
I heard (in Columbia) 107.5 clipped the end of it, then seemed to run a second one under their stopset

We had no problems receiving it. It relayed right after the EOM. The audio was a mess, though, from WCOS.... it had the audio of another test in the background.

That exact thing aired in G-SP. At least on our stations 103.3/103.9 and 910. 'COS relays to upstate and all S.C..... what a horrible source audio for the message. While clear signal from our relay, the source was not tuned in....Nothing to do but let it play out. As far as activating and going on all our stations, pass....If that message had been something actually important,
E P I C fail.

I think WCOS's EAS unit opens the built-in mic when it records incoming message audio. Go figure that Clear Channel has no one catching that.

eas has always had problems and it is not important enough for fema or anyone at the highest levels of government to fix.

Actually, compared to the EBS, it is not that problematic... if the LP-1 station is on the ball. About 4 years ago, we broadcast several spots plus half a country song once when the ding bat at WCOS didn't send the EOM.
