I don't know how well known Tom Houston Vick was outside the Lufkin/Diboll/Nacogdoches area, but he was well known and well liked in the market where he worked most of his radio career. Tom passed away last week at the age of 66. Here's his obituary from the Lufkin Daily News.

Memorial services for Tom Houston Vick, 66, of Diboll, were held Sunday March 6, 2011 in the Faith Family Church. Mr. Vick was born February 16, 1945 in Birmingham, AL to the late Francis and Rufus Jackson Vick, and he died March 3, 2011 in a Lufkin hospital.
Tom Houston, as he was known on the air, worked as an advertiser and announcer for KSPL AM/FM and other local radio stations for sixteen years. He helped create and did announcing for The Blind Handy-Man Show on the Internet with Phil Parr, Don Shaw, Don Patterson, and friends.
He loved his family, grandkids, his brother, Gordon, sports, especially football, and country music. He was a fighter who overcame Polio, lung cancer, and heart disease, and he was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cletta Vick of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Angela Christine and Jeffry Davis of Kennard; grandchildren, Amanda Christine Jackson, Emily Ann Jackson, and Jamie Nicole Jackson; sisters, Jackie Keenum, Faye Nelson, Mary Jane Sweatman all of Birmingham, AL, and Sherrill Bishop of Zeeland, MI; brother, Gordon Vick of Ogelthorpe, GA; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rufus Jackson Vick, Jr. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Snead Linton Funeral Home. Snead Linton Funeral Home; directors.
