Just a few highlights...

KBLZ, KNUE, KTYL...up

KOOI, KYKX, KKTX, KKUS, KDOK...down

KLJT...made a showing, but not impressive. John Tesh had the best numbers on the station

KOOI wins battle with KLJT, but KTYL beats KOOI

Kraddick on KTYL #1 across all demos in morning drive

Bull still "out to pasture"

KKUS was actually up in 12+ that is can't really judge the breeze since moreland and Rhonda just went back on the air What is KGLD AM ? I'm not in the market

My mistake...actually KKUS was up 12+

I imagine KLJT will make a much bigger splash in the next ratings book now that they have their all-star team on the air for good now. KOOI made a big mistake in my opinion moving to a "brighter" ac. I guess Access One has never heard the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." The fact that they made such major changes to KOOI, yet left KYKX alone just blows my mind.

By the way...any idea how The Bull is paying their electric bill?

Access one If it ain't broke we fix it, If it is broke we don't fix it... anybody listen to Dru this morning signal was really weak I'm near Texarkana but from what I could make out there running some sort of contest where the caller picks a door and they they win whats behind the door well the caller said 6 Dru played the cart of the prize then he came on and said by mistake he played the wrong cart then played the right cart If prize B was lesser value than prize A wouldn't they be obligated to give away prize A. Very sloppy radio at best

The comedy of errors, fubar, and snafu continues. Amazing that he is kept around to make an already bad situation even worse.>

True, indeed.

KGLD-AM was the AM simulcast to KDOK-FM. Gleiser sold it to Salt of the Earth Broadcasting and it is now black gospel.

It's hard for me to judge from here, but based on my experience:

Go beyond 12+.

Also, I'd look at Spring books for a 4 year period. It's hard to judge much in a two book market with no monthlies, but many stations are cyclical in that they are stronger in some parts of the years than others.

In other words, in a two-book a year condensed Arbitron market, I wouldn't make judgements solely on what happens between Fall and Spring.

Discrepancies in East Texas ratings??

I've checked out the Longview/Tyler ratings at both All Access and Radio & Records and the lists dont match. One site has KDOK in eighth place and the other has it in eleventh. Which site is correct?

Anyway in both sites the big loser is the Bull again - if this book doesnt convince Rusty to flip the man is seriously brain damanged! :)

You say that in jest (I think), but Rusty's way is to do things on his own schedule--even when others call him crazy. Everybody in town said that when he put KYKX on the air in 1973.

"The Blaze" does well enough to cover "The Bull's" tab with SWEPCO, or whoever their electric company is these days.
______________

The difference is KYKX's signal is MUCH better than "The Bull" and there wasn't near as much competition. He needs to give Access-1 "The Bull" and some cash and reacquire KYKX. I'm sure he could catch lightning in a bottle with it again. It's a lot of work, but I'm sure he could do it.
______________

Re: Discrepancies in East Texas ratings??

The staff and management at The Bull don't believe in Arbitron. It's funny that Rick Reynolds never beleived in Arbitron when he owned Kickin' 104, but now that he owns The Blaze he does beleive Arbitron is correct. When he first put The Blaze on the air he didn't even subscribe to Arbitron. The day the first book came out and he saw that The Blaze was #1 he called the Arbitron rep and subscribed! HAHA

****NEWS FLASH****Rick Reynolds does not own The Blaze!

Re: Discrepancies in East Texas ratings??

He owns part of it along with Rusty Reynolds, however I'm not sure what the percentages of ownership are.

The bottom line is that the Reynolds boys don't believe in Arbitron...until it works in their favor.

Yep.

Rick Reynolds owns ZERO Percent of the Blaze. Also, ZERO Percent of The Bull. Both are owned 100% by Rusty Reynolds. The bottom line is... you, like so many others on this board, don't have any idea of what you're talking about.

Better check out the county by county breakouts Billy. Last book the Bull had some good numbers in Smith County, this time they beat KYKX in Gregg County. (And pretty convincingly). 12+ numbers don't mean much when it comes to advertisers and agencies with any brains. And the Bull looks good 25-49... some even 25-54... at least, in Gregg County this book.

Not that it matters much, unless they can put it all together in one book and keep it. But SOMETHING must be right over there, bad signal, poor management, brain damaged ownership and all. True, beating KYKX isn't much to brag about (as so many others have pointd out, the heritage station of yester-year sucks), but with all the past turnover, diary fluctuations and so called lousy programming, the little heifer keeps hangin' in there, even if they step in their own **** constantly.

Rusty should probably change it if he wants to win anytime soon with 99.3, but if he has the cash and guts to hang on, he might pull a trick or two out of his has and could still put up a strong #2 country in Tyl-Lgvw. Take KNUE? Probably not in this lifetime.

I'd do a lot of things differently, but at this point, I'd love to see the Bull take it all, if just to shut up the "experts" that think they know everything on this site.

Name one station owner or group that believes in ANY ratings unless it favors their station(s).

How do you know, either way? Do you work there?

That is correct. He doesn't.
