East Texas Ratings

According to AllAccess there is a new #1 in East Texas Radio.

KISX and KNUE are tied for #1 12+

The BLAZE is in a three way tie for 3rd with KTYL and KKUS. If I'm not mistaken this is the first time since the BLAZE came on the air that they have been knocked out of the top spot overall 12+

Anyone know how the other (25-54) numbers look?

Don't have the 25-54 breakdowns, but with the (limited) information I have at hand, a few observations;

V-99.3: Rusty screws the pooch again!
Here, they had the perfect opportunity to own the African-American market at both ends of the demographic scale, and they ba-lew it big time! They simply stumbled out of the gate with a horrible music mix, no jocks, and questionable imaging more suited for a CHR than an (alleged) Urban AC, leaving the door wide-open for Clear Channel to take over. HEADS WILL ROLL!

KYKX: How low can you go?
I really hate to say this about a 30+ year heritage station, but if they can't reverse this downward spiral, it just might be time to take Granny off life-support.

KOOI: Definitely hurt by KISX and "The Breeze".

KISX: Not too wild about their music mix (a touch too much disco, and why do I always seem to tune in just in time to hear "Stand By Me"?), but since they share the #1 spot with KNUE, they're obviously doing something right.

Summing up, don't be surprised to see MAJOR changes at a few stations within the next few months. I'm wagering V will be the first to blink(either CHR-Pop, or dare I say it...ROCK?!(gasps) This upcoming spring book will probably be KYKX's last chance to turn things around.

What say you?

I finally saw the other numbers

KISX and KKUS were the big winners with large increases in all demos and day-parts

KYKX, KBLZ, and KVEE suffered major losses. KOOI stayed flat for the most part.

Top 5 stations in 25-54 were:
KISX
KTYL
KNUE
KKTX
BLAZE

Kraddick and Steve Harvey were the top 2 morning shows.

Congrats to Chuck McKinley and the Ranch crew. Chuck has done a great job with that station. CC did a good job with their decision to flip KISX from Top 40 to Urban AC also. I see major changes on the horizon for some stations.

V-99.3
I still have to chuckle about that.

It may be time to let Ken be in charge of programming the station....

KYKX will not change. they like being mediocre, and a bad one at that. As long as Dru has pictures of management;) expect the same 2 listeners.
