east Texas tornado coverage

KLTV proved once again why they have been #1 forever. KETK and KYTX were running regular programming while there were tornado warning from 4-10pm last night. Aren't tornadoes rolling through your viewing area important enough to pre-empt The Biggest Loser???

Heck KXAS Nbc 5 in DALLAS
Covered the East TX Tornadoes, in Fact all the Dallas Stations Did.
It doesn't Surprise me KLTV covered well, they seem to be the one to go to.

Yes, the KLTV storm coverage was outstanding. It was also a good move to simulcast that coverage on the Townsquare Media radio stations. This was an unusual weather event, not only in its severity but in the size of the area affected as well as the length of the outbreak. On both TV and radio the continuing coverage demonstrated what public service really means.

KLTV A+
KYTX F
KETK F

Meanwhile 19 and 56 continue to scratch their heads and wonder why KLTV continues to have a 75% share of news viewers in the market. 19 was the first to go to HD news and have a very slick looking set, but it's all bells and whistles.

Even KSLA was covering the ETX tornadoes better than 19 or 56. Shameful.

And everyone please pray for those affected by the Alabama and Georgia tornadoes. Video of the areas hit by those tornadoes remind me of the tsunami damage in Japan, whole neighborhoods and retail areas are just devastated. ETX was very blessed that we did not get these storms.

KSLA out of Shreveport? (a.k.a. The "Ark-La-Tex" area?) Yeah, that's pretty bad on 19 and 56's part.

Funny thing is that if KYTX didnt have a staff for the tornado warnings they could have used their EAS....Oh wait no they couldn't it doesnt work!! They cant put alerts on the air, weekly tests, or monthly tests. Maybe someone needs to call the FCC especially considering that they haven't had a test or alert on the Digital station since they signed on the air!
