Eastlan ratings in Burlington out.

Wow!!!! Just saw the Eastlan ratings for Burlington.
OKO, VPR, TRIPLE X top the heap.
Vox, the group that pays for Eastlan in the Burlington Market went from bad to worse. Star, Champ both down again and getting beat by an AM station. Not just by a little but getting crushed by VMT. Even 102.3 had higher numbers than Champ.
Eastlan is no joke. More sample in a shorter period of time. Can't just laugh this one off! So, what’s next?
Ken Barlow has taken a once pretty good cluster under Karen Marshall and driven his 4 stations to an all time low.

Two stations have almost one third of the listening (at least according to this measure.) Wow.

I didn't even know Eastlan covered B-P. What was the sample size for this survey? When I see things like WVMT jumping from a 1.9 to a 5.0, I raise my eyebrow.

Love how CHOM still has an 0.5 despite a first adjacent in the market. Now I'm really skeptical.
 
Arbitron has a sample size of a little more than 800, done by diary over 12 weeks. Eastlan has a sample size of 1,500, done by phone, over an 8 week period.
 
A few things to think about Will.
Ratings are about trending. Not just what you see in one period of time. I believe VMT’s numbers are based on first, the morning show and second, that they have Rush now. Don’t forget, like arbitron, Eastlan samples Franklin County in Vermont and Clinton County in New York, still places where Chom comes in pretty good.

I put more faith in a phone conversation with someone then trying to fill out an arbitron diary. But that’s just me.

No matter how you look at it, Vox comes out looking pretty bad.

Yup.

So while all the rest of us are at work, they are asking retired people on crutches and/or welfare to determine what the upright and productive population is listening to.

See why Eastlan is laughed at by 99% of the industry population?

Ignore their ratings. They mean nothing.

If they are a joke like you say, why does Vox spend good money on them?? Just asking.
I still would rather get a phone call at 3pm about what I listened to that day then ask someone to fill out a diary. Most do it at the last second. PPM is a different story. Plus, unlike what you state, they cover all the same demo's that Arb does so it's not just old people.
Just so you know, I think that Arbitron is a joke as well.
 
BSBoy or should I just say Corm? pretty transparent that's who you are the way you bash Vox all the time since they fired you and the way you always defend anything said about Corm and the Coach. just look under his post history to see what i'm talking about. i don't know much about Eastlan cause I've never seen it but it sounds like it's not real reliable. Not saying Arbitron is any better. i too question a survey that has WVMT going from a 1.9 to a 5.0 in six months and beating so many FM's in the market. you said it yourself Co----errr...i mean BSBoy. if it's so good how come more people don't buy it?
 
Swing and a miss Mr Slugger but you keep trying. You are right, you don't know much about most things. It's not so much Vox as Ken Barlow. I worked with him at Q and he is one of the most mean spirited A holes I've ever been around. Overrated then and overrated now. Facts are facts and he has destroyed what was once a pretty good cluster. You can make excuses and try to blame others but this all on him.
Vox bought those numbers now they can live with them.

VOX took over the Clear Channel stations Karen used to run?

I know Ken has lived in Burlington for years and I know that the VOX group that Ken used to run out of Barre unwound. How did VOX end up with the CCR's B-P cluster. Is this a newer, sleeker, re-issued VOX?
 
Yes. Vox xold many of their properties several years ago to Nassau and Saga. Two of the partners then bought the Pittsfield cluster and rolled it into a new Vox. They have stations in Pittsfield, VA, FL, Indiana and the Burlington properties they got from Clear Channel I think about 2 years ago or so. BTW, Karen Marshall was gone by that time and a guy names Tom Barney had been running them for awhile.

And if BSBoy isn't Mr. Cormier then he sure has all the mean-spiritedness and venom of Mr. C. Take a chill pill BS....we aren't talking about world domination here. It's just radio.
 
I'll tell you what Slugger. I agree 100% with you on "it's just radio" but this board brings out the worst in all of us, you and me included. You seem to live in a glass house and throw as many stones and have as much hate and venom as anyone so chill pills to all.
We are all big chest beaters. I've always said that if you can't say it to someones face, you shouldn't say it at all, and by the way, I have told Barlow to his face that he is an A-hole.

In the case of Ken Barlow (or anyone else) we all have opinions, experiences, stories, etc we could share but anonymous name calling on a blog is cheesy. No one deserves that.
 
Hey Jay, did you read the post. If you don't have the courage to say something to someone’s face, don't say it. My point, which you missed was, I did say how I felt to his face which I would guess 99% of this board would not have the courage to do. There is such a double standard by members on this sight. If you’re buddy is getting knocked, you stick up for him and say whatever you want about the other guy, but when the other guy speaks up you accuse him of spewing hate and venom. Where have you been on all the other mean spirited post on this board? Be consistent. By the way Jay, who do you work for??

Ah bsboy, you are sounding like one of those, "do as I say, not as I do" kind of people on this board. You're the dude hiding behind the phony handle spewing the venim, not me. Sounds more credible when you have your real name attached.. Keeps it honest and within limits. Before this heads into 'take it outside' land, if you called KB a bleephole, put your name out there. I guess we did not see you at the Q reunion eh ?
