Easy 93 Faux-edits?

C

Hi

I have not been listening much to Easy 93 like I expected to....but I have heard a couple of songs that seem badly edited to pass the soft-AC test ("Faithfully" by Journey notwithstanding).

"Love Is" by Williams/McKnight has much, but not all, the screechy guitar licks removed, and it sounds IMO as a badly-done edit.

"Make It Real" by the Jets, although not as bad as "Love Is", seems like there's a custom-made edit by Easy for the same reason as above.

Has anyone heard any others on WFEZ? I don't mean the professional edits that have been going around for years (like possibly edits for 45 RPM), but poorly-done ones?

(BTW I think "Faithfully" would work if WFEZ just turned down the sound gradually and edited the last 30 seconds off.)

On a slightly different matter, what do you think of the version of Still the one with the intro that Lite has always played?
We like it but have never heard it on any other station. Is that on the CD or is it edited in or what

The only "Still the One" I know is the Orleans version, unchanged since 1976.

That one is a tough call. I know that WAIA 97.3 (closest thing to WFEZ in the 70s on FM here) avoided it like the plague. They didn't even play their "Dance with Me" which is kinda odd. Maybe politics with the band? Today, "Still the One" wouldn't raise an eyebrow, and it wouldn't shock me if WFEZ had it.

I personally wouldn't put it on Easy, but it's one of those songs like "Kokomo" which even the soft AC's allow today.

Oops, wrong title! :-[
I meant You're still the one, by Shania Twain.

You're Still the One by Shania----actually that can join Still the One & Kokomo. Maybe a bit rough, but it's certainly a love song, one that ladies (WFEZ's core demo) appreciate.

(Another song by Shania, "From This Moment On," was among the songs sung, not by Shania, just prior to my wedding.)

In the case of "Love Is," Easy would do well to seek out the video version, which replaces the guitars with a more appropriate piano solo.

The Journey song brings to mind another number by a band known for hard rock: Extreme's "More Than Words." I could see that one fitting in just fine on Easy (but I shouldn't hold my breath for Green Day's "Time of Your Life;" now that would be a real curveball!
