For the past several years, Easy 99.1 has been one of my favorite radio stations. However, I have found myself to be listening to it less and less. Because I feel like it always sounds the same. The Back in the Day Easy Cafe is nice, and Abby’s Joke of the Day is a nice touch, and I’m not sure if they’ve repeated jokes. The funny thing is, they started doing it when she was 8 and she’s like 14 now and sounds much different. I think it started during February vacation on “take your child to work day” and everyone loved it so much they kept doing it.
But let’s get to the music. They have the 70s at 7, the 80s at 8, and the 90s at 9, which I like. They DID have the 60s at 6 but they got rid of it. They also have 70s and 80s weekends, and I feel like those can get pretty repetitive, always playing the same songs. I’ve noticed occasionally a few 90s songs will end up in that mix (Bryan Adams’ “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?” And Ace of Base’s “All That She Wants). But I personally think they should start playing more 90s music. They play music on the 90s at 9 that they would never play any other time.
And let’s talk about syndicated programming on there. There’s not much. Just the Lost 45s and American Top 40 reruns from the 70s and 80s. I’ve always loved Casey Kasem, but over the years, I’ve noticed a lot of the shows have started to repeat. I would not mind hearing Casey’s Top 40 shows from the 90s.
I also noticed they didn’t play as much Christmas as much as I would have liked them to. They only went yesterday at noon and will be playing it throughout Christmas Day. And they have the best variety of Christmas music of anyone, just like how they have the best variety of regular music than anyone. But the thing is, they did go all Christmas for about 12 days at one time, but they decided to stop that. I wonder why.
