Where in the world did FM100 get Easy Elvis overnights weekends? I'm usually don't post about people who seem new. New personalities seem to make progress as they go along. In Easy's case it seems to get worse. He forgot what to say. Then he said an annoucement twice before a song and then repeated the same announcement after the song. He might be the nicest person in the world. However, I wish he would write down a script to go by. I have heard brand new broadcasting students sound more professional. He's been on for a while on a 300,000 watt brand name station. There are other people looking for Memphis radio work.

Yes, but the pros won't work for sub-human wages or put up with all the crap. Conolidation reaping what they have sown...but they don't care.

* I must agree. I don't know who the guy is personally, but I can't seem to understand why he isn't getting coached, or willing to put forth any initative to self improve his on-air presentation. It's a very sad thing, because it nearly sounds that he's being forced to be there. I'm disappointed and personally ashame for FM 100 and their PD, I know of two professional "up coming" announcers in the city who actually applied for that position..never receieved a phone call neither were their calls returned..Long live a potentially good radio station--FM 100.
 
I understand that Conley doesn't like anybody and won't hire anybody he doesn't like, so it's a vicious cycle.

Thats funny....seemed that I "couldnt follow the format" when I worked for a brief 3 days. I "played too much Classic Rock". Long live The WHO. Which is why I was dumped as the weekend dude.

Over the years, I have heard many people say negative things about Steve, but I will NEVER be one. Steve did right by me.

He hired me as a PTer away from Kix-106, which was, at the time, a horrible place to work. Steve didn't know me, so couldn't "like" me at the time. He offered me a rate significantly higher than Kix was paying me (McDonald's could have beaten it) with a nice bump after 90 days.

So, 90 days goes by, and it's time for the bump. It seems the suits aren't happy, and gives him static about it. From what I was told, Steve went to bat for me, and I got the extra money.

Everything Steve promised, he delivered. He treated me cordially, and with respect.

It's appreciated.

What does Conley have to do with this? Lance Ballance is the PD and makes those decisions.

As for Elvis, I believe he is one of the AM board ops, or at least was when they were sports. I guess that qualifies him to be on-air at 1960 Union.

That's just one of many issues weekend radio has here. Saturday night as I drove home from the Tigers game I listened to 560, 600, 680 and 790 and each had a major issue with their automation while broadcasting their syndicated programming. 560 and 790 both rejoined out of local breaks early; 600 sat dead for several minutes at the top of the hour; 680 was playing local spots over the network programming.

So Easy Elvis is just one of the weekend problems in town.

Steve, while not the PD during my tenure, was always a professional and treated me with nothing but respect. Regardless of what anyone may think or have thought about him, both he and Ron were nothing but kind to me.

You'll find this hilarious... I took a $2.00/hour pay cut to go from Kix 106 to FM 100. You all finally are finding out. I was technically part time even at Kix but truth be known, I actually had Y&E, Norm Miller and TY to thank for decent wages, all of whom supported me. Why I left Kix?... someone will simply have to email me and I'll tell em the story.

That was Norm Miller in my case. Wonderful man.

As for FM 100... The pay situation was an Infinity(CBS) thing that I won't get into other than I was promised one thing and handed another. However, the staff was so good, the station's heritage so compelling that I was happy to be there. Never regret that decision... best station I worked for in Memphis hands down, FM 100<P ID="signature">______________

Does simply showing up get you a positive performance review at 1960?

Now, that's not nice. She earned her position. All those years doing PT should count for something, that's an arguement I pitched for years to deaf ears at Kix only to get pushed off the morning show. Wonder if anyone thinks I provided dead air and nothing important to say?

BTW, haven't heard Elvis on the past couple of weeks. Sounded like just sweepers and jingles.
