Easy

There is a new station starting in San Diego. It's called Easy 98.1. It will focus on the soft, easy hits of the last 40 years. Would this format work in Boston? Magic has migrated to today's hits and yesterday's favorites with the accent no longer on "soft". Does this leave a niche opening in Boston?

We have WPLM-FM, Easy 99.1. Same nickname at least. Their site:

http://easy991.com/

That may seem like the same type.
Going by song titles listed:
Framption, Baby i love Your Way
Red Hot Ch Peppers, Under the Bridge
Hall and Oates, Maneater
Eric Clapton, Change the World
Mellencamp, Hurts So Good

etc

Seems that this San Diego station is more like WPLM was a few years ago before modernizing their music. It is NOT the same as they are now.

It ain't gonna be a smash here, why would it be there?

Sounds like what the brand new “Koffee 98.7”, WKFY down on the Cape is attempting.

Our WAZN 1470 carries Music of Your Life, nights and weekends. I would call
the music, primarily, "adult standards", but there is nothing really loud in
the music mix, and the period covered is mostly 1950's through 1970's

The problem with MOYL is the target audience is near death. Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, Rosemary Clooney? That stuff is awful and I'm 48!
Plus when you hear a (relatively) recent song like "I just called to say I love you" you remember playing it as a current so there comes a powerful urge to stick your head in an oven because you're now officially an old fogey. Oh, and get the hell off my lawn.
