Interesting story about Ed Ames' solo singing career. His first big hit was Try To Remember, originally from the Broadway musical The Fantasticks. Ed later starred in a production of The Fantasticks. The writers of that song also wrote My Cup Runneth Over. He recorded those songs in Webster Hall in NYC, where other Broadway soundtracks had been recorded. I think Hello Dolly was recorded there. At the time, RCA owned a studio in Manhattan, but liked the big sound they got in that hall. Ed's producer at RCA was Jim Fogelsong. In 1970, Jim moved to Nashville where he started producing country records. He signed a bunch of huge stars over his time there, including Barbara Mandrell and Garth Brooks. Jim is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

I've always liked "My Cup Runneth Over," beautiful melody and great vocal by Ed. His late 1967/early 1968 "Who Will Answer?" was completely out of character but certainly fit the mood of those turbulent, uneasy times.
