Ed Hume gone from komo?

Looks like long time gardening guru Ed Hume (saturdays 10-noon) is gone from komo radio. tami micheals will replace him with a home improvemant show. looks like she also inked a deal for a tv show on komo4.

ratings looked pretty solid for ed (and not so for her on ktth), so it must come down to money.

hope someone is smart enough to pick him up, he's a gem!

It is about the money.

Tami's show is an infomercial. She used to pay for airtime on KVI. Then moved to KKOL. Then to KTTH. Now, apparently, back to Fisher and KOMO.

She pays for the airtime and then sells commercials and "guest appearances" to clients.

That's what radio has become.

Is this the same lady that voices the Major Blinds commercials?

I believe so. I know she does Priceless Granite and (I think) Carpet Liquidators. Her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me but that "Rubber Biscuit"-derived jingle for Carpet Liquidators is even worse.

On the other hand, Ed Hume is great. I've always enjoyed his solid advice. Sad to hear that KOMO would go the infomercial route but I guess they all do these days.

Sorry to see Komo take the infomercial route. I've grown up watching and listening to Ed Hume. My limited contact with him has always been great. I hope Kiro finds room for Ed, it
would be a great add to not only on air, but off air content.
Ed, you are the best and deserve better, you leaving takes a large brick out of the Komo
pillar in my opinion.

BTW, Tami is a hard worker, and a survivior of 9/11, but Ed's shoes are very big!

I believe she was in a hotel down the street from WTC. That's not what I would call on-par with the people who did escape the WTC buildings, as my brother did. They're the 911 survivors, not someone down the street.

A single Saturday or Sunday show, no matter how popular from a ratings perspective, barely moves the needle when it comes to revenue. Ed's show was probably a gap filler. When a better offer comes along, in these economic times you take it.

Wish Dennis Kelly would come on here and reply to Ed Hume being a gap filler for KOMO.

Same for Tammy. I'm glad to hear your brother survived. Tammy and her husband survived being at ground zero in the trade centers hotel. I've heard her story and have seen the pictures taken by them. Where can I learn more about your brothers story?

WTC story aside...sorry but that is irrelevant.

How or why Fisher is so taken to alienate whatever listeners remain by taking her back is a study in how disasterous Seattle radio management really is.

She is neither compelling or effective on air and how she got there is a utter and total mystery.

A mystery? Even some of the "rocket scientists" posting on this thread agree it's probably about money. (not that there's anything wrong with that!) Next time try keeping up.

Just because you don't like her style doesn't mean she won't bring in more revenue. And at the end of the day, that's what matters.

You mean besides the fact that you can tell that every other sentence in ALL the spots she records is cut and pasted together because she can't do a whole read or even hal a read all the way through?
"Honda of Fife has the vehicles*cut and paste* YOU have been looking for!"
Ask the sales staff over at Fisher how they liked having to fight her off from stealing their clients during a big promotion that she was "designer" for.
I do agree her show is absolutely unlistenable, even if you are into interior design, oh and I know for a fact that Ed Hume's show was making more than enough revenue for the station but right now Fisher wants to get that "guaranteed" income from brokered time programming like Tami's show.
Sounds to me that TVRadioGuru can't seperate friendship from business and what makes good programming.

Really! Well then if you know so much about what Ed Hume's show brought in from a revenue perspective, then please do enlighten us with the comparative revenue analysis.

We're waiting...

Good question, I too am eager to see the answer.
