Ed McMahon 1923-2009

What did he smoke?
I like to believe it's good that anyone can live to see anything past 85, but it bothers me to know that George Burns could smoke cigars for years and live to be 100 while others like Ed die at 86!
Sad.
R.I.P. ED!

Passing at 86 is a pretty long life, even by current standards, and especially for a guy who "lived life"... drank liberal amounts of alcohol for decades, and appeared to be a bit overweight. While lifestyle certainly counts, genetics is also a factor in longevity. Perhaps Burns' had little or no cancer in his family.

A few years ago, I read about a French woman who lived to be 114. They noted that she had quit smoking at 105!
