ok, so I'm listening to KFYI on Monday (why? who knows...)
and right after the news...a spot plays with Ed Phillips sponsoring some Voter ID thing...and then in comes Royal.

Now since I don't listed to K'TAR much... is Ed still there weather guy? If so, does this type of thing happen often. I mean, has anyone heard Bruce Kommando's Kinetico spot on K'TAR?

anyway, just curious.
I'll be back in AZ next week...so I expect for things to be worked out then!
j/k

KTAR runs ABC national news and airs the D.C.-based Tony Snow show from 9AM - noon.
KFYI runs Fox national news--which produces the Tony Snow show. I have heard Tony Snow on KFYI's top-of-the-hour news.

Re: "Snow job"

You highlight the main reason I thought it was stupid for KTAR to run Tony Snow. He's identified with Fox and promotes it, and KFYI runs Fox News, their sounders and has the Fox identity. Thus KTAR appears to label itself with the KFYI brand, which might even result in listeners crediting KFYI when they're really hearing KTAR.
Strategically, that doesn't seem too bright.

No it doesn't, but I never got why Fox made such a big deal about "FOX Newstalk" on their syndie shows. Yea yea, I know, the Fox News thing is a big marketing deal, but everyone knows Tony Snow, John Gibson, and Alan Colmes are on FNC, and they use the same voiceguy anyway. This is what happens when Fox does things like that. TRN, on the other hand, airs spots voiced by their other talents in network breaks from time to time (ie: an Ingraham or Savage spot on Humphries' show), which doesn't seem too bright, either. The only other shows I know that do this are C2C and Rome crediting "Premiere Radio Networks", but no one knows or cares what that is, and doesn't cause confusion among listeners.

That aside, they should be local in midmornings. If you must be cheap, syndicate 1-4pm, a less important daypart. Heck, Dr. Laura and Ed Schultz are live then and while they may not be the best options, they have more listeners than Tony Snow!

BTW, other Fox talk doesn't seem to be doing too well in the valley, with Colmes long gone off 1510, and Gibson not finding any home despite all those talk stations Bob Christy speaks of.
