Ed Schultz and Chicagoland

Does Chicagoland like and love Ed Schultz ? Are there alot of Ed heads there ? How are his ratings ?

It appears he is on several outlets there but I am unsure if those outlets signal makes it across the street.

He's interesting. The Ed Schultz Show is on WCPT 820 AM "Straight from the Heartland" Monday - Friday 11AM-2PM
***WCPT 820 should make it up to Racine, at least its signal makes it to Rockford!
He is #18 in Talkers Magazine Heavy Hundred http://talkers.com/online/?p=267 - other than the top 7 there are no audience figures.

Doesn't 820 simulcast on three FM signals? Unless I missed something...

Whatever his numbers are, I personally think they'd be better if the dude wasn't absent as frequently as he is.

Yes, but - they're "rimshotters" FM's that cover the far south (99.9), far west(92.5) and north/northwest(92.7)suburbs and outlying areas
Unfortunately, WCPT-AM is daytime only, though they have an application with the FCC for 1.5kW directional at night from a proposed TX site near Joliet.

"4 Frequencies, there must be a lot of Ed Heads in Chi-Town, Big Eddie must have atleast a 10 share ?"

The 3 FM's are a simulcast, but the coverage is not consistent over the Metro, they are "rimshotters" as explained above.

No one listens to any of those stations. They are horrible.

Do any of these stations even have ratings in Chicago?

Well - see for yourself, they're 0.1/0.2 in the ratings, barely on the radar: WCPT-AM (Willow Springs/Chicago), WCPT-FM (Arlington Heights), WCPQ-FM (Park Forest)

WCPY-FM (De Kalb) - is not considered part of the Chicago market. Might be considered part of the Rockford market.

That kind of what I figured.

ugly little secret, i worked with Mr. Ed in North Dakota, most of you probably don't know that just a few years ago "when it was convienient" Ed was a CONSERVATIVE!! after he found out that Liberal groups would bankroll and further his career, he BECAME a Liberal. IF that doesn't work out, i guess he will be something else.

I'm sure he's not the first to try that route.

Can you say... Chameleon? ;D

And cashing his checks.

his belief foundation is as solid as jello, that is what it is all about for him, just though everybody would like to know.

Actually I like his mix of liberal and conservative views. I suppose he is about the one few guys who hasn't taken one form or another of Kool Aid.

I dad always told me not to kick a dead horse. let's see, he has a nationally syndicated radio show plus a TV gig on MSNBC, not bad.

I actually would listen to Ed off and on, because he did seem to be fair to both sides, but; IMHO, since he got
the show on MSNBC, he has gotten very arrogant and slams anyone who does not agree with his opinion. The ironic
thing about it is, that is exactly what he used to accuse the Rush's and Hannity's....etc of doing.

To go back to the rating's issue, if you add up the FOUR signal's he is on, he has less listener's than some of the small
3kw suburban stick's. I am curious as to how long Newsweb is going to let that train wreck continue ???

Probably for as long as Fred owns the place.

Schultz has made no secret of his formerly conservative views. Whether or not he's sincere in his "changed attitude" is something I don't know....or remotely care about. What I do agree with is the observation that he's becoming the same sort of pompous arrogant blowhard that he used to accuse right-wing talkers of being. That's annoying, but no more so than his frequent absences.

Randi Rhodes frequently referred to Schultz as "not a good guy". I thought this attitude probably had mainly to do with the fact that when they were on live in the same time slot, he was bumping her to delayed-basis in a number of markets. That probably had something to do with her feelings, but I'm coming to suspect that there may have been more to it than just that.
