Ed Wenck on WIBC

Afternoons there have done nothing but improve over the past couple years. Dave Wilson was good at what he did, but not my cup of tea, Stever was a step up & after listening to an hour of Ed this Monday afternoon, I'm liking it. It's great to see a news talk station that's actually improving rather than bringing in syndicated host after syndicated host to cut costs. Could it be that these people (Emmis) actually understand the concept that you have to spend money to make money?

Agreed. I thought Ed Wenck did a good job and is a nice change. Although I'm not a Stever fan, it is good to hear him in the mornings. I only wish Emmis would finally remove Terri Stacey from the air. Does anyone know what happened to Greg Brownning? I thought he was a good addition as well as John Kesler...

Are John & Greg history? That would be a shame...strong hosts both of them IMHO.

John's "day job" is in sales for Emmis but does occasional on-air stints on the Saturday morning call-in show. In fact he calls himself the Herb Tarlek of WIBC I think...thankfully he dresses better than Herb Tarlek. To me it would be nice if WIBC could expand the call-in topical format to fill the Saturday morning. Sorry, but as soon as 9AM and Dr. Dirt his the air on Saturdays, I switch to WLW.

He couldn't dress worse ;)

Don't worry, he'll be Dr. Dirt Nap soon enough.

This isn't working for me. The 'ice breaker' questions are lame, and the calls even more lame.

He definitely has decent radio talent, but the show is slow and doesn't make me WANT to listen. Has given me good opportunity to revisit the sportstalk stations and even WXNT.

Overall - after a couple weeks - can't say I'll continue automatically tuning in after 3pm.

This thing has to be laying an egg. How long before Patrick's show on WNDE gets better ratings than Wank? WIBC is much to vanilla in the afternoon drive.

How about a local political show after Rush since this should be a major political year? And don't give me Garrison ... he's not a radio guy any more than those hardware/lawncare guys they try to pass off as 'radio hosts!'

Give Ed some time to find his stride. He is there to fill gaps between News, Traffic & Weather. The afternoon isn't about having someone give us political commentary, it's about information and knowing when to get it. I know now that I can get traffic & weather on the 10's and news at the top and bottom of the hour. The rest is daily topical filler and Ed is doing a decent job so far. The man hasn't hosted "talk radio" before and is flying solo for the first time in a long time. They are headed in a good direction for PPM....and that is what this is all about.
