Edd Robinson

Anyone know if Edd Robinson has landed a spot anywhere? He might have decided to retire, I'll have to check with some people I know who are still in touch with Edd. I worked with him ages ago at WSOC, nice man and a real pro.

Reports from this board are that Edd's was the last "live" voice heard on WFMX at around 4:50pm last Wednesday, July 19. He and the other staff were apparently not allowed much in the way of a "goodbye", but Edd reportedly gave a brief summary of his career and played Ray Price's "For the Good Times". Only a listener here, but I remember when Edd was on WSOC in the early 80s. Seems the slogan they were using at the time was "I Love My Country". I also remember Bob Brandon from about the same era, Kitty Ledbetter, and the late Bill Dollar--though Bill may have come along a bit later than Edd.

Edd is currently taking some time off and is talking with a few people in the industry. As soon as I know more, I'll let you know.

I had the honor of working with Edd for 7 years, and let me tell you, Mike's right, a real pro. Many times did I ask him for advice. Edd also knows the industry so well, he can almost predict something before it even comes close to happening, and it pretty much does. Great guy Edd "with 2 D's please" Robinson!

I wish I had some airchecks of him from the late-60's/early 70's of Edd from his WAME-1480 days. In my mind, the guy wrote the book on how to DJ Country music.

Later....
