Eddie Guerrero 1967-2005

WWE.com has posted that pro wrestler Eddie Guerrero has passed away. I write this to honor his memory as a great entertainer. Growing up in Los Angeles in the 1970's I was fortunate to have seen all four Guerrero brothers wrestle live. Chavo, Mando, and Hector/Lasertron, wrestled at the famous Olympic Auditorium under the NWA banner. Eddie was not old enough yet. Not until he came to the WWE did I get to see him. And honestly, he was the best performer of the four. Walking back from the ring after a match, he gave my daughter a pat on the head and shook my hand as he made his way by the crowd reaching out to him.
Thanks for the memories, Latino Heat!

This is a sad day indeed for wrestling fans, especially for the Guerrero family.

And to think his last appearance was November 11th on UPN's "Friday Night Smackdown" in which he defeated Mr. Kennedy.

Was "Smackdown" broadcast live this past Friday night (November 11th)??

I thought that usually, it's taped a couple of days prior to broadcast, although there have been a handful of live broadcasts.

Smackdown is taped usually on Tuesday Nights. The last, and only time that Smackdown was live was on Thursday September 13, 2001.

They are taping both Raw and Smackdown tonight. If I understood the press confrence correctly, they will air the same program tomorrow night at 9 EST on USA and at 8 EST on UPN on Friday. Is this correct?<P ID="signature">______________

Yes. Since the event took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis as a Raw and Smackdown supershow, the Raw episode airs on Monday at 9:00PM and the Smackdown episode will air Friday at 8:00pm on UPN. Since our market doesn't get UPN, Smackdown airs on Saturday nights at 9:00pm on my local WB station.

On tomorrow's RAW Episode, I would expect a serious introduction by either Vince McMahon or other WWE announcers followed by a brief "moment of silence" with a 10-bell ring ceremony, similiar to the one they did when Owen Hart died a few years ago. I would also expect to do the same thing for Smackdown.

We will see then.

According to a press conference, Vinny Mac stated that both shows would be " tribute " shows, with wrestlers and/or staff members giving short eulogies on Eddie, just like on Owen Hart's tribute show. I wonder if Steve Austin will give a Stone Cold beer salute like at the end of Owen Hart's show.
On a side note, in L.A. radio talk show hosts John and Jeff on KLSX interviewed Rob Van Dam the night Owen Hart died about the dangers of pro wrestling. I'll be listening tonight as well.

Not entirely true! There was at least one or two other live shows done. One was a season premiere done from West Valley City, UT (Salt Lake City market). However, the last live edition was from Houston on the day you mentioned. As for taping dates, the show is usually taped on Tuesdays. However, it was taped on Sunday during the week of "WWE Taboo Tuesday." It was also taped tonight, as scheduled, since many of the stars are heading to Europe for a few shows.

R.I.P. Eddie :(

Owen Hart was killed in Kansas City, MO in May of 1999 at the "WWF Over The Edge" pay-per-view show.
