Where did he come from?
How did he end up on WKNR?
What else does he do in addition to the intro of traffic on WKNR in the AM?
How old is he? Sounds like he's kinda old...

More importantly, why does he say his name during every update?...Nobody needs to know his name, he gives the temperature and says "Now for a check on traffic"...in no way does that give him the right to say his name.

I joked on here the other day that during the Mike and Mike promos...they should call it the "Mike and Mike and Eddy show" b/c Mularz inexplicably gets 2 minutes of airtime each hour (110 of those seconds involve him declaring his name). I've seriously never heard a board op give a name anywhere else in the country, but I guess include this in the long list of KNR head scratchers. Ohio Media Watch should do an exclusive on this..

On Eddy: please read...

This will be my sole commentary on this thread.

A former staffer at WKNR e-mailed me quite some time ago. Among the things we talked about was Mr. Mularz being on the air with the tx/wx tosses:

While not elaborating on the subject (and rightfully so, at least out of respect) Eddy has had some serious health problems over the past few years. Having the ability to sit in front of a microphone and going on the air is a tremendous thrill - and achievement - for him.

A fair number of staffers have been pulling for him as well, considering his health, and I will normally refrain from commenting on him in general here out of respect.

Having that been said, that does not excuse the overall formatting of the tx/wx updates on WKNR - and I felt this way when Gene Winters did the tosses. It should just be the Metro guys just introing themselves, no? WHK does it that way, and they consist of a single solitary Commodore 64 in a broom closet! (or sound that way, anyway)

Re: On Eddy: please read...

Well now I kinda feel bad...Sometimes I open my mouth before I know what's going on. I apologize. I genuinely hope it's nothing too too serious.

Plus, who gives a rats ass if someone gives their name on tosses to weather, traffic, sign-off, on-air transmitter testing, etc???!

Oh wait. Who created this needless thread again who's only intent was the bash? Age check.

you know what...it's not worth arguing about and I'm not going to get baited into an argument. You pouncing on my question speaks for itself.

Hmm. You still don't get it. That's too bad. Maybe in time.

Here's a brilliant idea: how about finding a way to contact him at the station?

WOW!!!

I know...whatta concept, eh?

Re: On Eddy: please read...

It would be a little easier to contact him if he wasn't hosting the Mike and Mike show for 4 hours a day. Lighten up a little...if we want to make fun of WKNR...we'll do so - and we have ample material.

Eddie is handicapped ..despite his enormous physical deformities he has done a supurb job at knr for over a decade. The problem is the managment at knr is not top notch as it was under Cablevision. In 97 when they sold out it became a dumping ground that tries operate on the cheap. But in reality they have always had problems in on air staff ....from "jewing" people down to rental car payola. Gene Winter is a nice kid but he was just terrible

Thanks Nathan O and SigmaRick

Thanks to Nathan O and SigmaRick for the insight.
That is truly an excellent story in an industry that doesn't have many inspiring stories to tell.

(cough) WHK is a huge facility shared by WHKW and the Fish. Oh, and, the TX guy on WHK is awesome BTW.

Leave eddy alone guys, he's a good dude. :p

You weren't making fun of WKNR. You were making fun of ONE person. No wonder you chose the handle you did. Dumbass.
