Eddie Trunk show now on WAAF

I just got an e-mail from the mailing list of Eddie trunk saying his show syndication will take place every sunday starting 1/28 from 7-10pm. whats your take on this?

WHy? that station is known for breaking metal acts. Why would they need Eddie Trunk to do what they are already doing in house?. My take? waaf's jocks are probably not happy bout that. It's on Sunday nights? it is not a ratings factor at all.

true. in A new yorker perspetive he's the only thing we got.. In a boston perspective It is probably a dumb move instead of having a local dj.

Well they have Mike Hsu who did the harder/faster show. Not my idea of any kind of personality BUT hhe played stuff heavier than ANYTHING you would ever hear Eddie Trunk lay down. My guess is that they wanted the Eddie Trunk flavor because he's kissed so much has been rock star arse that they constantly drop by his show unannounced etc. Eddie is pretty well networked with the 80's guys and some of the 90's bands since they had no outlet in New York to be heard for a long time. Still dont except for Eddie trunk's specialty show actually.

I'm sure that it's Entercom's way of saving a few bucks and putting on a syndicated metal show on the weekends. Most of Eddie Trunk's show, if I recall correctly, focuses on older metal and only includes a very few new metal (not nu-metal) songs. Eddie is a legend in New York and New Jersey (I believe he was on WDHA for a while), but not here.

That's right, Eddie was at WDHA. Not too long after he started as a part-timer there, the previous host of DHA's Metal Mania departed and he took over the program. I'm not a big metal fan, but I remember that he put a lot of energy into the show and, I believe, expanded the program's base of fans.

on his WNEW days, in 2001-2003 he used to play a lot of new metal but when he moved ot WAXQ q-1043 in 2003, he basically stopped playing most new metal. as for listening to his show live in NYC, for requests Eddie has played most of the music that I have requested in the past.

Eddie has definately flown the metal flag before metal was considered cool but he's far from a legend. He does have access to certain bands that a lot of hosts dont have, he does have a bit of a bond because he has been at it so long. All in all he is just a part time dj with a specialty show that AAf is probably getting for nothing, probably a barter deal. Eddie is not bad and has a report with bands but not a legend, that word is far too easily thrown around!.
