Eddie Webb to the Loop

Both Rosenthal and Feder are reporting that Eddie Webb will be returning to the Loop as the new host for the afternoon drive. Of all of the guest jocks the Loop had all summer, I liked Eddie the best. I also liked his show when he broadcasted previously in Chicago. Given that the Loop was not going to use the talent they already have for the 3-7pm slot, Eddie seems to be a good choice. It will be worth listening to find out.

Yes Eddie Webb is a fine choice. But probably not the best choice. I will certainly listen to WLUP every now & then with him back, which is something I haven't done regularly in a couple of years so I suppose that's good.

I don't understand thought why Emmis seems to have made a concerted effort in the past couple of years to rid themselves of all previously hired Bonneville jocks, yet now decided to bring back a previous hired Bonneville jock. ??? If they are willing to bring back Eddie Webb than they should also bring back Seaver and/or Cara if they want to rejuvenate their "chicago rock" moniker. Both Seaver and Cara were on WLUP far longer and far more successfully than Webb, that's the irony in this whole situation. Has Emmis/Chicago bothered to look at the rating books in summer of '00 (with Eddie) vs. the summer of '01 (with Seaver & Cara). Big, big improvement after Eddie left. And I have nothing against him, I just think Seaver & Cara did a better job pushing the music and identifying with the listeners. And they had the ratings to back it up.

Eddie kicks ass! Get over your Chicago bullsh#it. I've known him for a long time, as we both cut our teeth in AZ. Great voice, loves rock, smooth as glass and chicks dig him. If given a chance, he will shine. Eddie is a supremely talented rock jock and "presence" in a wasteland of wanna-be comedians and hard-asses. Listen to the radio people, then judge.

Eddie is a home run for the Loop. He was lost in the desert at Beasley. Now back home. You rock, Eddie!
