Edge 103.9 - Phoenix, AZ

The music on this station is ON POINT. http://www.theedge1039.com

But the station elements sound like Mainstream AC. They followed the lead of 94.9/San Diego, The End/Seattle and 94.7/Portland in the dry voiceovers and in not talking over the intros. Personally their old sound rocked, and you can still hear these station elements during the 9pm SkaPunk show.

However now that they have eclipsed the 2 12+ rating share, it's unlikely they will change the imaging anytime soon.

Even with those perceived drawbacks, this really is an awesome radio station - a rare thing in today's world of over-researched sludge that has pervaded over most of the country.

Some Canadian stations do it. The Zone @ 91-3 in Victoria only plays 15% hard rock/metal on its alternative playlist. I hope 102.1 The Edge in the T-Dot follows that direction to dump most hard rock & metal content, and continue to follow Entercom's hard rock-free alternative lead (KNDD Seattle, KNRK Portland, KWOD Sacramento & KRBZ Kansas City).
