Edge 103.9

The music on this station is ON POINT. http://www.theedge1039.com

But the station elements sound like Mainstream AC. They followed the lead of 94.9/San Diego, The End/Seattle and 94.7/Portland in the dry voiceovers and in not talking over the intros. Personally their old sound rocked, and you can still hear these station elements during the 9pm SkaPunk show.

However now that they have eclipsed the 2 12+ rating share, it's unlikely they will change the imaging anytime soon.

Even with those perceived drawbacks, this really is an awesome radio station - a rare thing in today's world of over-researched sludge that has pervaded over most of the country.

Did you really just type in ON POINT to describe that?

Just checking.

Congratulations on making the most POINTLESS post in the history of Radio-Info, and that's saying something because there have been some really bad ones.

Right. Your post was 'ON POINT'. My "point" is that you're a tool.

Ouch. You should be nice to interns.

I'm neither a tool nor an intern, but I agree with the post. I'm not a fan of the dry direction the Edge has taken, but I like the music variety, especially since most music the Zone plays is the very same stuff they played three years ago. I half-expect a Zone jock to say, "Got a brand new one from Beck now. It's called Loser." I don't mind retro, but I do like freshness. The Edge has and maintains freshness.

Regarding your post, I agree with your take on the Zone. The prior posters' infantality obviously warrants no response.

The dry direction of the Edge just doesn't match the music. Hearing a sleepy VO say "The Edge. Live. Local. Yours." is a great frontsell for Air Supply. For Rancid? Not so much.
Edited by saladdressing on 08/25/05 07:38 PM.
