It was never meant to be CHR, Classic Rock, Spanish, AC, or Country. Yet that's what CC, Cumulus, and every other Corporate machine attempted to do to it and did.
Jay C said:this is exactly what happened to the Buzz in Houston. blame it on the new market PD Vince Richards. He thinks everybody still wants to hear Bush and Nirvana 5 times a day with a mix of new harder, no talent bands. :![]()

One thing id like to see KDGE go to is more of a 101x-style format, at least they have variety in all day parts...

The Dropkicks are in town next week at HOB, you can hardly get a ticket to that show, but yet no airplay in Dallas. That's the mediocrity of this market. I'm not knocking grundge, but every generation deserves their play. That's the way alternative has always been. You never bow down to your critics or listen to the advertisers. You're different from everyone else and you're doing what you want. That's the way KDGE and 99X used to be. The later is gone and the I see the other dying a slow painful death with safe radio in place.
So it's hard to get a ticket to the 1600 seat house of blues? Makes you wonder why they're not playing the 5000 seat Nokia theatre in grand prairie...texasskywatcher said:Nirvana, STP, etc are bands of yester year. But okay, 1600 seats, WOW...Anybody want to guess what quarter hour cume is at your run of the mill, average station in this market?
Hint- it's a lot more than 1600...
What makes you think that they have any interest in being seen as a "current rock" outlet? The problem with "currents", new music, call it what you will, is that the majority of that music is listened to by young people. As in 12-18's or 18-24's. 2 demos not in great demand by the vast majority of advertisers. Sure there's some, after all Proactiv has to shill acne medicene somewhere, but by playing more 'older' alternative, they keep more of that 25-34 audience around...critic319 said:Initially, I had questions about the format because of the bleed over between KEGL and KDGE. Now, I can't find a logical reason for the existence of the current format on KDGE. As others have stated, I fail to understand why current artistst aren't a part of the playlist if CC intends to maintain KDGE as a current rock outlet. Just one humbe opinion.
