Edge Shuffle Weekend

What you all think bout the Edge shuffle weekend. Was pretty interesting to hear alternative artists along such stuff as Rolling Stones, James Brown, and Ac/Dc. I actually wouldnt mind hearing this shuffle playlist all the time. Would actually I think compete with our "Jack" station The Peak.

I thought it sucked!
I was under the impression, that they were going to take there entire music library and just set it to random shuffle for the weekend.
that was a big disappointment, because it would have been cool to hear a lot of lost alternative tracks.

I think the idea of freeform is super cool. Most people's I-Pods don't just have Beck, STP, Dead Kennedys and Interpol, it's a mix of ALL TYPES of music.

The Edge "shuffle" feature should become a format, TSL would be through the roof, just as it is with the Jack stations.

I didn't mind it to much. Going from Michael Jackson "Smooth Criminal" to Bush "Comedown" was a little to much for me though. The one thing I hated about it was the overall presentation of it. The on air talent would be like I have no idea what's coming up next, so enjoy!!!

There is so many alternative bands out there, that never get airplay.
also there are more tracks on a cd, than just the "Hit Single"

So Edge had no Reason to be playing "Micheal Jackson"

Does The Edge Play The New track from "The Tears"

or any number of 80's modern rock tracks, besides the few they rotate over and over.

I went to See the Movie "Mysterious Skin" Over the weekend,
and I heard music from "Slowdive" "Sigur Ros" and "Curve"
Does the edge play any of that?

or how about some gothic/industrial like "Funker Vogt" or "Fictional" or "Wumpscut".

Do you ever hear any "Rufus Wainright" or "Richard Ashcroft" Minus the Verve.

MY POINT!
there is a S*it Load of music out here, thats just totally ignored.

But I turn on the edge and I heard "Heart's" - Dog and Butterfly, which is an ok song.

But I can get that from KSLX-KCDX-The PEAK- or a number of stations, why does the edge have to play it.
GOD PEOPLE, DO SOMETHING FRESH AND EXCITING!

There's also a ton of crap out there, as you have demonstrated. 99% of the people out there don't like the non-mainstream stuff. Close-minded? No. Just chemically balanced, normal childhood, or not on drugs.
______________

Phoenix is lucky to have two commercial alternative rockers. Some places, like Minneapolis, NYC, Miami & Philly, have none.
Edited by saladdressing on 08/03/05 02:04 PM.

Maybe My Musical Taste was "Mutated"
Because I Grew Up Listening to College Radio Back in Cleveland, Ohio
WBWC - 88.3 fm
WUJC - 88.7 fm
WCSB - 89.3 fm
WRUW - 91.1 fm
WOBC - 91.5 fm

NOW That's RADIO!!!

Phoenix Radio Between 88.1 fm and 91.9 fm JUST SUCKS!!
The Only thing worth turning a radio on in Phoenix for would have to be
KNRJ - 92.7 and 101.1 fm
KEDJ - 103.9 fm
and KZON 101.5 fm and nothing more.

Coming from Cincinnati, I strongly agree with you! Ohio IS where radio really gets its strengths. The cutting edge.

It's good to know what's wrong with radio in Phoenix. Everyone other than Energy, The Edge and KZON - LISTEN UP - please shut off your transmitters now or start playing real music from the Butthole Surfers, Jesus and Mary Chain, Wumpscut & Sigur Ros (who?) 24/7. You're wasting everyone's time.

And someone please let Arbitron in on this too.
