EDM coming to the FM airwaves of SA?

This really made my day and I hope it all comes together.

From a Facebook post- "is San Antonio ready for EDM radio station on FM...we will find out soon.."

The person and/or people at San Antonio Dance Radio seem to be involved.
 
Which Facebook page did that come from? Curious to know which FM's picking up the format.

I've been following SADanceRadio.com ever since 2011, and they've really come a long way. This station's going in my presets if it happens. :D

I'm pulling for you, saradio. Heck, maybe ol' Alpha will lease out the Karnes City reject to SA Dance Radio. Wouldn't that just be the luck? It ends up there, where basically none of San Antonio can actually listen to it?

Interesting, and always fun to kick the speculation can to a certain extent, but I have my reservations. Who legitimately posts something like that on Facebook and not face the unemployment line the following day? We'll see. Probably goes on one of the HD-2s or 3s in town, if it's legit.
 
The post is from the founder of SA Dance Radio. If the post was some random Joe Blow, I would have ignored it but this seems legit.

The folks running the SA Alpha Media cluster is a joke. Alpha Media should needs to clean house and start fresh. This includes the new KTFM/Jack/App PD. Never thought I would be saying this, but Landis should have remained at the helm.
 
For what it's worth, Jack FM sounds a bit cleaner now. Not perfect (there is some distortion still), but at least it won't blow your speakers out when you tune from another station.

As for The App and KTFM... I like how KTFM's not speeding up the music anymore, and The App definitely does play music KISS doesn't.
LOL KISS is so boring I only listen for their morning show, which can be a little funny at times (yes, it does include some adult humor.)
 
San Antonio Radio Dance Facebook page updated it's followers today, "Coming to FM in San Antonio very soon, antenna is up".

With all likelihood, this is an LP-FM frequency being leased to SA Radio Dance.

BTW, GO SPURS!!

I don't think LPFMs are allowed to lease their station out, however if SADanceRadio is working with one I wouldn't be surprised. Best of luck to them!

Uh-huh, but we were FIRST. Remember, San Antonio didn't win their first championship until AFTER "The Dream" retired. That would be AFTER the back to back titles which featured Olajuwon mopping the floor with "The Admiral" David Robinson and wiping it dry with Tim Duncan. You're welcome for Robert Horry, btw...lol. WE were the team that interrupted the Bulls 90s dynasty with our 2x world championships, you may recall. Weren't you guys still having trouble selling out Hemisfair Arena back then?? Or had you guys moved to the Dome by then, having to curtain off half of it with tacky pics of Robinson and crew, because they couldn't even come close to filling it? Lol.

This is great! It's been a long time since the Rockets looked this good, and playing SA next round will be awesome. It's me against the entire in-law family, personally. They're giving me absolute hell, but we'll see. It's been forever since we've had a meaningful I-10 rivalry game that actually MEANT something! Of course, we're still waiting for you guys to finish up the Clippers. We certainly didn't break much of a sweat beating up on Cuban and the Maaaaaavs, you know. It'll be a much better series between our two teams.

Anyway, pardon the detour. What other new LPFMs are still out there, that could house the SA Dance Radio programming?

As for the new LPFM's, let's see. 96.5, 96.7, 99.1, 99.9, and one of the three 101.5's. I don't think it's 96.5, 99.1, or one of the 101.5's. Those all seem to be religious groups or groups which, I would think, wouldn't like EDM.
99.9 is KROV, with R&B. It might be 96.7, still don't know about the programming on that one.

KXTJ posted the following on Facebook yesterday.
"Phase 1 completed. Super Hits is on in San Antonio! "The big tortilla" as Danny Bocanegra says. 7th largest city in the nation. 96.9FM.
Thank you Frank Guido for your help with the antenna. Bobby Lopez is currently off the air mornings till Phase 2 starts in a few days. We have lots of great things planned for our local and world wide listeners. Stay tuned!"

I haven't been close enough to hear it, but I will let you guys know if I can receive it better than the old KXTJ setup.

I had it loud and clear at the Schertz sign on 10 west, coming into town last week. I never thought to check it again, what with Fiesta and all. As soon as I hit Luling, I dial up 99-5 KISS and it usually stays there. 96-7, really? Where's that one located in town?
 
Remember, there are two 96.9's that go full-time.
KXTJ Super Hits 96.9 is on the NW side, classic hits/EDM. Formerly 96.9 Jamz.
KPPC 96.9 is on the NE side. I expect that's the one you heard, Purple. It's the oldies/classic hits one with inspirational Christian messages every hour.

KPPC's tower is higher. KXTJ did raise height, but still not as high as KPPC. KXTJ is the one with more power, however. 100 watts VS 64 watts for KPPC.

Here near 281/Bitters, KPPC comes in faintly but not KXTJ. KXTJ is the one streaming though, so I can technically hear both. ;)
 
It sure does.
Perhaps they will be able to raise the antenna even higher than it is now.

I like it, too. It's good this station's not afraid to try the format. :)

Hey look! I saved you a spot on the bandwagon, just in case of such an emergency. Man, I was looking forward to the I-10 showdown. The in-laws are livid!

Confirmed yesterday that KXTJ is, indeed, broadcasting. :)
