Edmund Fitzgerald Anniversary

Hey guys, tonight KRZ's Shadoe Steele ran an anniversaary special on the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It was incredible.
He petitioned the US Coast Guard at Whitefish Bay Michigan for the original Mayday/SOS tape made the night of 11/10/75 and they delivered. He also called over 150-folks with the same last names as the crew lost on the Edmund
Fitzgerald in Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota, before he finally landed
the brother of the chief maintenance mechanic on-board that night! This
took 6-months to set up! They say a wave of over 100-feet (Biblical
measure) swept over the ship breaking it in 2 that night at 7:34 PM CST!
The interesting part of the interview was the timeline on the thing. The guy he was interviewing found out a day later in a bar when he was watching the TV. There was virtually no notification of families and the news was so slow on this thing. The three major networks basically used it as a footnote. My God, if it happened today with the 24 hour news cycle and cable outlets, they'd be all over it.
Just an incredible job, again on Sat. Night Live At the oldies.
