Educational Media Foundation buys WCYI 93.9

Isn't this the group that just bought WMEX-FM in Somersworth, NH? Hey, this isn't South Carolina!

I never thought I'd say this...but here's a moment when the FCC ownership cap really hurt the community. One local outlet is gagged completely (ah, cardboard cutout radio) and the other local outlet is shot in the knees.

Ouch. It's a good day to have satellite radio.

I'm sort of surprised that Entercom didn't pick it up as a Portland/Augusta/LA affiliate for WEEI, but EMF was my second guess.

I wonder if they will run K-Love on the station though. Doesn't WMSJ do a decent job with AC-based CCM? The Christian rock-based Air 1 network may be a better fit considering the in-market competition.

Ugg if I had the cash to fork out I would've made WCYI an album rocker that would give the watered down CC version of WTOS a run for their money but unfortunately I don't and WCYI will fall to another birdfed god preacher signal. I am sure many of us would've also made a more quality station as well.

oh boy another rock station bites the dust... :'(
