Our local PBS station has changed its logo and graphics...KAET Channel 8 now is just called Ei8ht (actually "eight")and lets us know they are a part of ASU. It is a little confusing when the announcer says a program is on "Tonight at 9 on Ei8ht"!

The announcer is Phil Allen, and even if he said "Channel 8", you would still be confused. Ask anyone who heard him Saturday mornings at KTAR in the mid 1990's.

ROFL! I bet they got that idea from KFMB/San Diego, which did the "ei8ht" thing in the 1970s.

"...as the Californianization of Arizona continues......"

Lest we forget, WJW in Cleveland and WMTW in Portland (probably some others) were also "ei8ht" in the 1970s and 1980s.

...Or, for that matter, anyone who watched Phil anchor the TV news in the 1980s and 90s. He was on both channel 3 and channel 12, IIRC.
