Eisenhauer Towers

I was somewhat in the area this evening and looked up at the towers which are located next to the BMP studios. I remember hearing way back when that someone ALWAYS had to check to see if all the lights were on. Well tonight it seemed as if one of the towers lights has either burned out, failed, or whatever.

Can anyone else confirm this? I musta stared at the top light on the tower on one of the four that are there for what seemed forever and it never turned on. I know all the others worked fine but it was that one that I never saw. I watched it till my car was too far to see it. This is a huge deal especially since the airport is so close. All you BMP guys should get your engineers to check this out.

I post this not for the concern for BMP or the issues they could face as a result of this... but for the safety of the people flying in the sky above.

yeah tower 3 has been out over three weeks I used to work there and that would have never happend with ZLeroy and Richard there.

Haven't been in touch with ZLeroy for over several years. After reading the post, I figured he was history because he wouldn't let this happen for even three minutes if he could help it. He is on the ball.

I take it ZLeroy is gone due to budget cuts BMP radio? He had been with KTSA radio for at least 20 years if
I recall correctly.

3 weeks! wooooooooooooow

what kinda fine are they looking at if someone reports them? 4 maybe 5 figures?

this is serious, something needs to be done about it.

Can't they get a HUGE fine every night for this until it is fixed?

They won't get fined. If it were tower #1 or tower #4 they could possibly...but not probably.

i dont seem to understand. they are only a few hundred feet away from each other. why would certain towers matter and not others?

In some arrays, not all towers are required to be lit. In a (more-or-less) straight line like KTSA's, I don't know what the specific rules are.

There are some exceptions but they deal with antenna height with regard to surrounding terrain or other nearby structures or proximity to airports. The general rule, however, is that any tower that's 200 foot or taller has to be lighted. In this case all four towers need to be illuminated since they're all 125 meters (about 409 feet) above ground level.
