Mr. David Eduardo, Radionotas.com has announced that El Cucuy has said goos bye to his listeners on the air. I guess his contract didn't get renewed, what are your thoughts? Who do you think is going to replace him?

His numbers were well below what he had several years ago on KLAX; he is being replaced tomorrow by Joaquín Garza, el Chulo y su Bola, from WLEY in Chicago.

Do you think El Chulo and El Pistolero will be moved to L.A. now that they are being broadcasted in the number 2 market? It would be weird not having local morning and afternoon shows live locally. How bad were La Pelicrosas' numbers against El Mandril that they decided to get rid of her? If in fact that was the reason...

Who in the world would want to move from a moderate cost of living city like Chicago to LA where everything from education for ones kids to taxation just absolutely sucks? Most of us wish we could move anywhere else.

David,

Do you think El Chulo will do better in the ratings than Cucuy? I believe Joaquin Garza is of Mexican descent so maybe, he can relate better to Mexican immigrants than Renan whom I think is from Honduras. I know Cucuy did a lot of charitable things and was well respected by the LA immigrant population. But, as you've stated, the ratings were down so I guess it's time for a change.

That's what I thought...why wouldn't they move him to L.A. and why wouldn't he move there. I don't know why D.E. is such a hater...yeah I know everything is expensive in L.A. but I know a lot of radio personalities that had left L.A. to go work at other markets and would love to go back to Cali and work in L.A. WE'RE KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE!!

Nice house in Chicago, $350 k. Nice house, but much smaller, in LA, $1.3 million. State taxes of 10%. Gas 25% higher. Insurance about the same.

If you can get the pay and not live in CA, better. Many people who work for local stations have to go to LA or another big market to get higher income. Chulo has a network show... he can do it from anywhere. So why not do it from a place with better schools, lower cost of living, etc?

At the end of the day, it is about how entertaining each is. Joaquín is not of Mexican descent, he is Mexican. And Renán is in fact from Honduras.

Renán was losing audience, Chulo looked great in Austin, and did a good debut in Chicago. One on the rise, one on the decline.

from what i hear he is movingggggggggggggggg

So he will have to start the show at 3 AM in LA! It's a lot easier to network from East to West than from West to East.

My understanding is that El Cucuy was cut purely for cost savings. SBS is under extreme pressure from stakeholders. Joaquin Garza is on his second trip to LA. He did not do all that well the first time around.

Joaquín is on his 8th or 9th trip (a word well chosen) to LA. He started at FM 98 (now KLAX), moved to KSKQ, then was on KLVE in mornings, then nights, then back to Súper KQ. Then he left the market and was in a number of places, including KSOL in SF when it signed on. He came back to LA for KLAX for a while, "left" and then came in for KXOL when it was AC, and left again, ending in Austin prior to going to WLEY.

Raúl Alarcón is reported in the trades to be negotiating with investors and funds to buy back all the public shares. Since he controls the majority of shares, the shareholders are very limited in what they can petition for... so your reasoning on Renán does not play. Renán has had very bad numbers in LA an SF for more than a year. The time ran out.
