"I think it's time to put Dennis Richmond out on a long assignment. Alot of fine and talented folks have left channel 2 from what I have come to understand because of Mr. Richmond, could this be true? in my opinion he has as much personality as an IRS agent on a audit. (crack a smile once in a while it won't hurt)"
I'm not particularly a huge fan of Richmond, and I don't know whether his co-workers like him or not, but he's become an institution, and he's at least as good as any of the other male anchors around now - better than Denton, in my opinion, whose SUPER DRAMATIC AND LOUD DELIVERY gets tiresome after about 5 minutes. Remember that Dennis and the 10 O'Clock News first became popular as the antidote to all of the lame "happy-talk" newscasts that were popular in the 70s. So being serious was an integral part of their format. I recall a TV critic joking that you couldn't tell that Richmond and his co-anchor (Barbara Simpson at the time) were even in the same room.
Besides, I like the way he always says "San FRAN cisco."
