Eldridge Strike In Louisville!

Hang On To Your Saddles....

DERBY DRIVEL

<http://newsblues.com/Secure/Source/Images/Logos/wave.gif> News Director Lee Eldridge, who, in the course of the past three years has jumped from Media General's WNCT-9-CBS in Greenville (Market #107) to Nexstar's WROC-8-CBS in Rochester (Market #78) to Raycom's WAVE-3-NBC in Louisville (Market #48), stunned staffers on Saturday.

<http://newsblues.com/Secure/Images/Photos/churchill-downs.jpg> During Derby Day coverage from Churchill Downs, Eldridge, while being "interviewed" by one of his reporters, suddenly dropped to a knee and proposed to his girlfriend, who was with him in at the track. She accepted. And the world shed a tear as whatever remaining semblance of professionalism quickly slipped away from a once-proud industry.

Hijacking public airwaves for personal gratification seems grossly out of character for a professional news manager.

Maybe Eldridge was just drunk on watery mint juleps.

Consider This...

If his girlfriend had been Lia Lando, and it got her out of Rochester, it would have been worth it.

Er... was this live or was the reporter and photog helping him out by pretending to be interviewing him?

Er,...Live , Local , and Up to the Minute I'm afraid. You can see the performance for yourself by going to the WAVE TV web site (google it) ...they've got the whole piece on video.
Just hope you haven't eaten first.

Wow, looks like he really set the professionalism bar high for his news department in Louisville. To think this was the type of person that 8 had running things explains a lot about they have struggled for years.

At first I thought this post might have been a joke, but now I see its for real. All I can say is "unbelievable."

One has to wonder how the news and sales staff at this TV station must feel about this?

That stations he works for is #3 in the market (out of three stations--sound familiar WROC?), but that move on live TV was straight #2.

You think that a #1 rated TV station would hire this guy? Hell he would replace all the veteran reporters with people willing to work for minimum wage.

Lia Lando

Why would you want Lia Lando out of Rochester. She has brought so much to the station. People who write about her are just jealous because she is talented and not to mention beautiful!

Eldridge actually said Katrina Irwin was the bext reporter at 8. If you use cup size and blondeness of hair as a measurement, I suppose. How do you think Steve Levine, Dave M. and Rachel Barnhart felt about that?

You forgot to mention highly educated. This is the same person who apparently skipped history class because she believes Ben Franklin was a U.S. President. English was another class she missed out at college since she pronounced the word mis-CHIEF and said Coop instead of a coup. Yeah Lia brings a lot to TV alright. ::)

Personally I think Levine and Barnhart, like many before them, are glad to be out of 201 Humboldt Street. As for Dave, I'm sure he's got his resume out there.

[EDIT] Why do you think the ratings are up for the station. Oh and wasn't it Lia Lando who was congratulated for that?? Yes, I think so.
