This hasn't been a good election year for either Limbaugh or Hannity as both would have preferred a real conservative like a Newt Gingrich as the candidate rather than the more centrist right leaning John McCain
(I guess they don't have the "power to persuade the Republican base like they claim" as McCain ended up being the candidate).
Sarah Palin is actually probably more of a conservative than McCain, so both of them would probably prefer her over McCain except that she has no experience (a year and a half being a govenor is pretty skimmpy). If this were the election of 2012 and Mrs. Palin had been governor for four or five years, that would make a big difference and then you'd probably see more support for her by right wing talk radio.
As both Rush and Sean had bashed McCain quite a lot during the primaries, but have had to give him their reluctant support as he will be their party's nominee and they'd both rather move to another country, cut off their right arm, and sell their grandmother to the highest bidder than vote for Barack Obama, Joe Biden, or Hillary Clinton.
It will be interesting to hear what sort of parodies and cutting remarks Rush will be making about Barack Obama if he wins the election. Limbaugh has done this sort of thing for 16 years with the Clinton's (frankly some went over the top and I'm surprised he didn't get sued). A question on that, if Limbaugh does the same level of "cheap shots" at Obama and his wife Michelle as he's done with both Bill and Hillary will he be accused of being a racist and thrown off the air as Imus was. My guess is, Rush will have to tread far more carefully with the new first family (if Obama wins) than he did with the Clintons. Bill and Hillary didn't have the "justice brothers" (for those in Reo Lynda, that would be Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson) watching their back as Obama does.
It must be frustrating for both Rush and Hannity to have to defend and back a candidate they spent months bashing and now this candidate picks an attractive female who's actually a solid conservative, but lacks any real experience ending their rant against Obama for not having enough experience as he has far more experience and education, etc, than she. Plus, like Biden or not, he's got a lot of solid experience and could easily fill the shoes of the President if a President Obama were no longer able to full fill the office of President. I'm sure Sarah Palin would give it her best shot if she had to step in for McCain, but she'd really need to surround herself with experienced advisors, and if she's new to Washington, how would she know who to really trust, etc. So it's not been a fun election cycle for either Rush or Hannity.
